Did you know there is an ideal time of day to mow your lawn? That’s right, you run the risk of harming your grass if you mow at certain times of the day over others. Some professionals may say it doesn’t really matter, but at JPJ Landscaping LLC, we agree there are best and worst times of the day to mow your lawn.

What Is the Best & Worst Time of Day to Mow Your Lawn?

Best Times to Mow

Most lawn care professionals agree that mid-morning is the best time of the day to mow your lawn. By cutting it early in the day, it has time to dry and heal before the evening arrives. Cutting your grass during the hottest part of the day could severely damage or burn your lawn. The next best time of the day to mow your lawn is the afternoon. The temperatures are getting lower and there’s less of a risk of harming your property.

Worst Times to Mow

The two worst times of the day to mow are early morning and evening. If you mow while the morning dew is still on the grass, you could be causing damage to your lawn and lawn mower. It’s also harder to cut grass that’s wet, and freshly cut, wet grass can lead to torn grass blades and a badly cut lawn. Plus, wet grass is an ideal environment for disease and fungus to grow.

When you mow your lawn late in the day, during the evening hours, you’ll also be contending with moisture that is settling on your grass. You will be dealing with the exact same circumstances and conditions that are present during the early morning hours.
